On June 12, 1963, Abbot Michael Lensing assigned four monks to the new foundation in Nigeria. Fathers Camillus Cooney, Lawrence Miller, Basil Wiederkehr, and Raphael DeSalvo. In August of 1964, Brother Louis Fuhrmann and Brother Paul Halliburton would also be assigned to the new priory. The foundation would be abandoned on Holy Thursday, April 11, 1968 due to the
Biafra Nigerian Civil War. Photos below show the Subiaco monks during their six years of service at Saint Mukasas Priory. There were also three young men and one diocesan priest who undertook time in formation, but they chose not to enter the Subiaco community.
