PAROCHIAL MINISTRY: The primary ministry of our abbey is prayer--communal and private. We have also decided to focus our secondary ministry efforts on three areas: EDUCATION (our internationally famous all-boys day and boarding Subiaco Academy); HOSPITALITY (our Coury Guest House and Retreat Center); and PARISHES. We undertake our parochial outreach through sending out our monastic priests on weekends across the diocese to fill-in and substitute for the parish priests that need a vacation, continuing education, or have emergencies. We also make two of our monastic priests available to the diocese to serve as Pastors (Fr. William in Clarksville and Fr. Mark in Subiaco and Shoal Creek). If a man feels called to the monastic communal life as a Benedictine monk at Subiaco, then he will have three expansive areas of ministry assignments to explore over the decades of his life. We are blessed by Fr. Mark (pictured here before one of our daily masses) and Fr. William who have presently undertaken assignments to serve in parishes as part of our parochial ministry efforts. For that we monks chant: UIOGD!
