SUBIACO INTRUDER DRILLS MONDAY: In 1901 and 1927, Subiaco suffered devastating fires. The campus learned from those tragedies and continually conducted fire drills since then. We have done the same for tornadoes and storm drills, but also for nuclear drills during the Cold War when our Church basement was designated a nuclear bomb shelter. 80 YEARS: Today (Saturday) we celebrate the 80th birthday of Fr. Mark Stengel (pictured right). Tomorrow (Sunday), we celebrate the 80th birthday of Br. Adrian Strobel (pictured left). They agreed to allow us to take a photo in front of our foundation cross from 1878 when our monastery was founded. We give thanks to God for their years of faithful monastic service and persevering in their vows. They remain two of our hardest working monks in ministry. MONASTIC CLONING: Several of our monks are being cloned... or at least their profiles are! So, we have been removing information from our abbey website that might allow people to easily clone us. If there is ever any question about a monk contacting you for money, then just give our abbey a call. We are grateful to all those that let us know of these scams.
Graduación: Brother Sebastian completed his summer assignment in introductory Spanish and Hispanic culture at the Mexican American Catholic College in San Antonio, TX. He will soon be returning to St. John's in Collegeville, MN, to start his second year of his four-year seminary program for priesthood. He is photographed here with his classmates and instructors. For a person that does not like beans, he was able to still survive the cuisine and graduate. For that we monks chant: UIOGD!
