Br. Sebastian has been assigned for the summer to the MACC (Mexican American Catholic College) in San Antonio to get his first immersion in the Spanish language and its many cultures. He is pictured here in class and at Mass as a lector. Brother just finished his first year at St. John's School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, MN. He will have three more years of studies and summer assignments before his ordination to priesthood.

Abbot Elijah has announced that Brother Raban Heyer will be ordained to Priesthood in the Presbyteral Order on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Benedict at Subiaco Abbey. A reception will follow in Fuhrmann Hall. The ordaining bishop will be our own Bishop Anthony Taylor of the Diocese of Little Rock.
On Thursday, September 7, Abbot Elijah invested Christian Stelly as a Novice of our community. Novice Christian will spend this period of his formation participating more fully in the prayer, study and work of Subiaco.

Father Elijah Owens, OSB, was elected the eighth abbot of Subiaco Abbey on Thursday, July 7, 2022. He follows the tenure of Abbot Leonard Wangler who served for seven years as the seventh abbot of Subiaco before resignation. An abbot is the head of a monastery of monks chosen to guide and lead the monastery. More specifically, the Abbot of Subiaco is the spiritual head and Father of the thirty-five men living the Benedictine monastic way of life at Subiaco Abbey.
